February 23, 1959 City Manager City Hall Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Sir: In reference to application for a business license now in your office for Belle Barron and James R. Rose to do business under the Name of "Celebrities Clothing Exchange", it is desired that the writers take this opportunity to elaborate on the type of business that we intend to conduct. In our application we indicated that only BETTER USED CLOTHING would be handled. Therefore we would like to CERTIFY that the following type of merchandise will be the only type bought, displayed or sold on this license when issued: 1. All Clothing that is worn on the person of Women. 2. All Clothing that is worn on the person of Men. 3. All Clothing that is worn on the person of Children. 4. All type of babies wear including blankets. No other merchandise of any description will be bought, displayed, sold, or stored on these premises. It is further agreed that the store will be maintained in a clean, bright, and orderly manner, befitting the shopping area of its location. Violation of any part of this letter, along with the standing regulation set forth by the City of Las Vegas, will cause this license to be in violation and subject to revocation by the City of Las Vegas. /s/ Belle Barron_____________ /s/ James R. Rose____________ SALVATION ARMY Robert Boos, Acting City Manager, stated that a wire had been received from Major Charles Proposed Lease of McIntyre of the Salvation Army's San Francisco Office by Major Nadeau of the Las Vegas City Property Salvation Army, stating that the proposed lease agreement between the City of Las Vegas and the Salvation Army covering Shelter facility had been approved with the exception of Held in Abeyance two small changes, and that the lease would be signed and returned immediately to the City. Commissioner Fountain moved that this matter be held in abeyance. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor C. D. Baker. ORDINANCE NO. 787 An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 24, SECTION 26, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, Setback Ordinance AS AMENDED, BY ADDING THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM BUILDING LINE SETBACK AND STREET WIDTH LINE ON SOUTH SECOND STREET BETWEEN WYOMING AND OAKEY TO THOSE SETBACKS ALREADY ESTABLISHED BY ORDINANCE; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS Adopted PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Sharp and Whipple, committee for recommendation, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 787 be adopted. ORDINANCE NO. 786 An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION IV OF ORDINANCE NO. 378, REFERRED Rezoning Ordinance TO AS SECTION 10, CHAPTER 24, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY AMENDING THE LAND USE (Z-13-58 & Z-15-58) PLAN MAP ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, AND CHANGING THE ZONING DESIGNATION OF CERTAIN AREAS OF THE SAID MAP, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Sharp, Adopted committee for recommendation, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 786 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor C. D. Baker. PROPOSED ORDINANCE Commissioners Fountain and Sharp, committee for recommendation of the proposed Building Building Code Amendment Code Ordinance Amendment, which was introduced and read by title at the regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners held February 18, 1959, and referred to committee, Continued requested additional time before reporting. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 1 AND 4 (e) AND REPEALING SECTION Child Welfares Amendment 4(f) OF ORDINANCE NO. 749 RELATING TO THE REGULATION AND LICENSING OF CHILD CARE FACILITIES WITHIN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; REPEALING Referred to Committee ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Whipple for recommendation. PROPOSED ORDINANCE An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING SECONDHAND DEALER LICENSES, CLASSIFYING Secondhand Dealers AND RESTRICTING THE NUMBER AND LOCATION THEREOF, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND Referred to Committee PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Sharp and Bunker for recommendation. 3-4-59
