Las Vegas - March 5, 1943 W 23-1-A Mr. Frank Strong? The time of year is now at hand when we can expect gradually increasing consumption of water at Las Vegas and more or less waste of water as the hot weather arrives. Our conservation program was very successful last year and I have again been offered the full cooper® ation of the City officials and the press. the Chief of Police yesterday, they agreed to employ an additional uniformed officer during the summer months to he assigned the duties of enforcing the City Ordinance prohibiting the waste of water. I agreed to participate in this expense as in previous years and will issue a voucher for 00 each month, April to September inclusive in favor of the City to help defray this expense. Bennett and Denton give consideration to renewal of our publicity campaign this summer. I am sure our program last year thoroughly aroused the citizens to the necessity for conserving the water supply in the underground channel and I believe the newspaper contest among school children for appropriate slogans was particularly effective* subject and if you concur would like to get the program under way by April 1st. In conference with the City. Commissioners and I shall be glad to have you, Messrs. Guild, I shall be glad to have you consider the cc - Mr. W. H. Guild Mr. E. E. Bennett Mr, R. B. Denton
