Las Vegas Review J•urnal-September 13, Negotiations between the Las S Vegas Valley Water district and the Las Vegas Land and Water ? I company, looking toward the I possible purchase of the latter’s I distribution system in the city, | are progressing satisfactorily, I although a little slowly, accord-ing to members of the district \ board. The water company has sub-i mitted an inventory of its fa- I cilities south of Charleston boul- I evard to the engineer for the j water district, and. is setting up I a similar plan for the inventor- ? ies of the rest of the area served { by the utility. When the entire - inventory | is submitted to the water board, j the engineer will go over the | estimates and attempt to arrive | at a pufchase price that would i be satisfactory, to the water board. Then the board will meet with the officials of the water company in an effort to arrive at a final estimate that will he satisfactory to both. The job, according to officials of both interested units, is some- ?what tedious, but it is expected that some proposal will be .ready from Hie district board within the next few weeks and then ac-tual negotiations between the two groups can be started. It was pointed out that the : price agreement must be I reached before any further action J can be started because, until the purchase price of the Land and jj Water company facilities i s j known, no plans for a bond elec- I tion can be made. It is doubtful, officials said, | that any bond proposal could be placed before the public at the November general election, and I it appears probable a special !j election may have to be held, f unless the proposal caif go over S to the city election next spring. The valley water board officii ials said they were satisfied with | the progress being made and j that every action had to be r checked thoroughly to see that ! they abided by the law under.
