Las Vegas, Nevada Morning Tribune February 6, 1945 ______________ L Las Vegas Plant To Call Bids | As soon as architectural drawings and specifications are complete, bids will be called for construction of the new plant for I Steel Conversion Corp., it was j announced yesterday by Jerry Duemling, who has just returned from a Pittsburgh, Pa. Local contractors will be in- ! vited to bid on the structure, i which will be concrete floor' and I walls with a metal roof. It will be electrically operated through- j out, including ovens, forges and cranes. Duemling said he expected to ask for bids within 10 days and actual construction is to begin within 30 days. Lease of railroad property on Bonanza road I has been negotiated, he reported. All equipment and machinery has been allocated from the factory in the east, and three naval contracts have been designated for the Las Vegas plant as soon ! as it is in operation. Complete conversion of the Los i Angeles offices and warehouses I to Las Vegas will be effected, Duemling said, making this area headquarters for the western and South American operations of the ! firm. ' Edward Hudler, installation j mechanic, who has been a mem- 1 ber of Steel Conversion and Sup- j ply Co., of Pittsburgh, returned 3 with Duemling and will assist | with beginning operations here.
