    November Health Report
    DATE: November 5,1999
    TO: Theta Theta Omega, AKA
    FROM: Dorothy M. Johnson
    Chairman
During the month the NBLIC distributed 32 sets of 8 videos each to our collaborators of our last conference with 26 sets going to the West Las Vegas Library for distribution to city libraries of their choice.
We held a health workshop at Victory Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, October 30. Attendance WHS 25 + speakers.
All participants of the “Tell a Friend” Project are requested to turn in their kits today as the American Cancer Society is waiting for them.
The Las Vegas Coalition has received a grant from the Nevada State Health Department in the amount of $9,676 to apply to expenses of our Forum II, “The Unequal Burden of Cancer” to be held April 15, 1999 at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. Our Western Region Director, Soror Grace, has accepted our invitation to be one of the speakers, so I’m hoping TTO will not schedule any activity on that date.
Verbally the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Las Vegas, has asked the NBLIC to take over their Witness Program” and they will turn over to NBLIC the grant money they received for that program. Nothing in writing yet, but they plan to be a passive partner.
We have been approached as to the possibility of So. NV. Concerned Women becoming a partner in our next major event. I will make a presentation to the group on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 at 6:30 PM at the West Sahara Library.
Clark County Health District is participating in the National Coalition for Healthier Cities and Communities. Doctor Kwalick, Chief Clark County Health Officer, invited NBLIC and approximately 20 other active community leaders to his first meeting of Healthy Communities Dialogue on November 5 at the CCHD building at 12 Noon. Discussion was on what creates health and healthy communities with a series of questions concerning health of our community.
We plan on giving two pairs of shoes to the West Las Vegas Library per request.
