The original target date for taking over the system was tentatively set at April 30, it was reported, but there were indications that the actual take-over would be delayed for at least a month or six weeks. However, it is expected that the district will be in the water business by the early part of the summer, at least. Supplement Water district officials said that every effort would be made to supplement the present water supply for the coming summer to tide the area over until the water from Lake Mead is available. The officials said that they would attempt to lease or purchase several' of the private flowing wells in the city and tie them onto the distribution system before the hot weather starts. It also is planned, it was reported,. to Set additional pumps at the wells and booster pumps at the weaker areas along the distribution line. • “We. feel certain that we will Be able to augment the present supply by from two to three million gallons per day through these methods,” Harry E.. Miller, manager of the district, said. “It is probable that water restrictions will, be continued ;in force during the hot gwa-mer month®,, however.” : • No Extensions “We plan no addition extensions of the wateTsyfterfr' during the coming summer, if such expansion can be avoided, and we' plan to •clamp down heavily on the water wasters. We will attempt to supply plenty of water where it is necessary, but we can assure the local water users that they will face heavy penalties if they do not take the proper precautions to conserve water,” he concluded. President Thomas Campbell, of the water district, said last week that the board has set a tentative target date for the sale of bonds as March 22, but from all indications that date will be delayed at least a month. The agency which is working up the bond sale.prospectus had representatives in Las Vegas last week completing the data necessary for compilation of the brochure, and reported they should have the tome completed by the end of the present week. As soon as the brochure is completed, copies will be mailed out to the various bond houses of the nation, and it is hoped that _ the sale can be consummated in the next few weeks. SB
