FEB 2 1953 Jan, 29# 1953 AIRMAIL Mr, William Stava California Water ft Telephone Co. 300 Montgomery Street San Francisco, California Bear Mr* Stava RKt Case Mo, 1221 The above case involves charges by the Las Vegas Land ft.Water Company applicable to water for refrigeration, air conditioning and air cooling machines• We had an old tariff covering these charges which, for some reason, was never enforced and when we attempted to collect the charges numerous protests were filed and the Commission set the matter down for hearing October 9, 1952. The protestants put on their case and I agreed that we would file a new tariff, which we did, which tariff reduced the rates by approximately 75$. At the preliminary hearing, the old tariff was suspended. After the new tariff was filed, it was suspended for sixty days and I am now in receipt of advice that the Commission has contin­ued the suspension for another sixty days and has set a hearing for February 17th in Las Vegas. We have quite a file on this subject and it would be necessary to have some engineer, who is familiar with the amount of water used in these facil­ities, testify. Mr, Adamson talked to some of the men who made these various machines and has secured con­siderable data but they all refuse.to testify since the business is competitive and they will not admit that their machines use any amount of water, tinder the circumstances, Mr, Reinhardt feels you would be able to work up this case and has authorized me to employ you.
