Blft Thursday, September 3,1931 1 Public Service Commission Splits Difference In Bulk of Water Rates Las Yegas Review 9-3-21 A boost in residential water rates;, of 50 cents per month instead ot a dollar as originally proposed, has j been granted by the public service commission, it was revealed, here yesterday with a receipt ot tne new schedule of rates authorized as of-September first.' The Las Vegas Land and Water company requested a boost _from $1.00 to $2.00 for each residence, the commission setting the proper figure at $1.50 which' with a charge of 25c each for bath and toilet brings the total amount fot houseowners UP to $2.00 monthly, instead of $1.50. . ' In most instances where an in­crease of $1.00 per month was re­quested, the commission cut this figure in half. In the case ot bungalow courts, the rate requested was $2.00 per month for each single house without bath- or toilet _the commission set the amount at $1, with the majority of other types of service in proportion. The new; fate . for apartment houses Without bath ; and toilet is $1.50, with those facilities $2.00 per month. Bakeries, butcher shops, candy manufacturers, cigar manu­facturers, cleaning and dyeing es­tablishments, garages, without wash racks, ice cream factories, office buildings under 10 rooms, arid wash racks for automobiles, $2 per month. ? _ ... ' Barber shops pay $2.50, with 50 cents additional'for each chair oyer two; public baths $1.00 for first and 75 cents for each addi­tional; county courthouse and grounds $8.33; club rooms with bar, $5.00; concrete and cement work per yard four cents; confee- tionary store, $1.50; . d™f ' $1.50; fountains with jet $3.bU; no- tels, 10 ropms or less,. $2.50, each additional 'room 15 cents; steam laundries $30.00; . restaurants $2.50; service station $1.50, barn l;and toilet extra; soda fountain m connection with store, $1.00. • Valuation of jb&H water, rights, placed at $200,475, by the com- pany, was held to be worth $6,000 for rate making purposes based on a federal court decision, by.
