    C. B.lf XTON, CHAIRMAN CHAS.'V. WILLIAMS, COMMISSIONER ALFRED MERRITT SMITH, COMMISSIONER LEE S. SCOTT, SECRETARY Public Service Commission of Nevada Carson City our FILE YOUR FILE March 22, 1943 T® All Public Utility Water Companies: Through the press and the information received from the Office of Price Administration and the United States Department of Agriculture, there appears to be a drastic shortage of most all agricultural products for the year. All agencies of the Federal government having to do with food stuffs are advocating planting victory gardens. This Commission has undertaken to contact all public utility water companies operating under its jurisdiction to ascertain what, if anything, each water company can do in furnishing water for victory gardens, and at what rates. This request is being made with the thought in mind if water is available and at reduced rates, it would be a patriotic move to supply sue)', at reduced rates. Action on the part of all water companies is strictly voluntary. We have already taken the matter up with the Carson Water Company and that company has voluntarily agreed to give a decreased rate for victory gardens. A sheet showing the rates of the company is being enclosed for your files. The regular rate for domestic service is 130 per 1,000 gallons. By the establishment of this rate of 60 per thousand gallons, it does not appear that revenues under those of 1942 would be effected. It is true, in many cases, the situation is already being taken care of where a flat rate is used. In any event, the Commission would appreciate hearing from all companies if water is available and at what rates. Yours very truly lss/l
