504 V A R IA N C E A P P L IC A T IO N H a r v e y T a t e M c D o n a l d V-71-53 V A R IA N C E A P P L IC A T IO N Willie Hughes V-69-53 VARIANCE APPLICATION Betty Albright Compton V-70-53 Denied protesting the granting of this variance were received; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 1953, the Planning Commission voted to approve the application inasmuch as it was felt that this type of development would be in keeping with good planning principles; and WHEREAS, such decision was filed with the Board of Commissioners on October 1, 1953 recommending that such Variance be granted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the recommendation of the City Planning Commission that American Linen Supply by F. 0. Gardner, be granted a variance to construct and maintain a two story building with officer, store room and employees recreation rooms, with provisions for loading and off street parking, which is located at 1008 Second Street between Coolidge Avenue and Boulder Avenue in an R-3 Use District be accepted, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Sharp, Whipple and Mayor Baker voting aye; noes, none. Not voting: Commissioner Jarrett. Commissioner Whipple moved the recommendation of the City Planning Commission that the application of Harvey Tate McDonald to construct a garage apartment at 304; Sout h Maryland Parkway be approved, be accepted and the following resolution adopted: W HEREAS, on the l5th day of September, 1953, Harvey T . McDonald filed an application with the City Planning Commission for variance to construct and maintain a garage apartment (garage is now existing as a sleeping room) at 304 South Maryland Parkway between Bridger and Lewis A v e n u e s in an R - 4; U s e District; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 1953, the City Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on this application for variance, at which time no objections were raised and no communications protesting the granting of this variance were received; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 1953, the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of this application inasmuch as they felt that this type of development would not be detrimental to surrounding property values; and WHEREAS, such decision was filed with the Board of Commissioners on October 1, 1953, recommending that such variance be granted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the recommendation of the City Planning Commission that Harvey T. McDonald be granted a variance to construct and maintain a garage apartment at 301; South Maryland Parkway between Bridger and Lewis Avenues in an R-4 Use District be accepted, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Blinker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp moved the recommendation of the City Planning Commission that the application of Willie Hughes for variance to construct a triplex at 709 Monroe Street be approved, be accepted and the following resolution adopted: WHEREAS, on the 8th day of September, 1953, Willie Hughes filed an application •with the City Planning Commission for variance to construct and maintain a triplex, in addition to a single family residence, located at 709 Monroe Street between G and H Streets in an R-l (Single Family Residence) Use District; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 1953, the City Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on this application for variance at which time no objections were raised and no communications protesting the granting of this variance were received; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 1953, the City Planning Commission voted to approve the application inasmuch as it was felt that this use would not prove detrimental to the surrounding properties; and WHEREAS, such decision was filed with the Board of Commissioners on October 1, 1953, recommending that such Variance be granted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the recommendation of the City Planning Commission that Willie Hughes be granted a variance to. construct and maintain a triplex, in addition to a single family residence, located at 709 Monroe Street between G and H Streets in an R-l Use District be accepted, be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time the application of Betty Albright Compton for variance to construct a duplex at 900 Rancho Road in an R-E District was considered. The City Planning Commission recommended that this application be denied. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of the Planning Commission that this application be denied, be accepted and the following resolution adopted: WHEREAS, on the 14th day of September, 1953, Betty Albright Compton filed an application with the City Planning Commission for variance to construct and maintain a duplex in addition to an existing single family residence located at 900 Rancho Road between Charleston Boulevard and Palomino Lane in an R-E (Residence Estate) Use District; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 1953, the Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on this application for variance, at which objections were raised; and WHEREAS, on September 21, 1953, the City Planning Commission voted to recommend denial of this application inasmuch as it was felt that the granting of this application would cause a precedent and would devaluate the surrounding properties and fine homes in the area as well as cause the enroachment of their building, and cause additional maring of the approach to the City; and
