    THANKSGIVING PROJECT
    Soror Lois Bolden of the Thanksgiving
    Committee isrequesting.that each Soror
    contribute $5.CQ at either the October or
    November Sorority meeting to supplement
    the cost of this year’s Thanksgiving Baskets.
    All officers and respective committee chairs, this is the
    time of year thafcwe need to begin preparing tW-ohapter

    proposals to Soror Carolyn as soon as possible.

    OCTOBER SORORITY MEETING
    Saturday, October ?, 1995; 3:00 p,m. Saint James
    Catholic Church 820 H Street,. Hostesses: Gwendolyn
    Gates-Bartlett, Dorethy Earle, Clair Hart, and Dorothy
    Newman.

    NEW YEAR’S EVE DANCE
    This year’s New Year’s Eve dance will
    be held at the Flamingo Hilton in the
    Silver City Room . The cost for each
    ticket will be $40.00. Sorors who wish
    to reserve table(s) at the dance must do
    so by December 2nd. All monies for "
    ticket sales must be submitted by
    December 20th. The committee is
    requesting that all Sorors participate in
    manning the door for at least Vz hour
    during the course of the night.

    SoKrs, the Humanities Committee will be accepting
    donations at our October and November meetings for
    the BLACK FAMILY Project. See Soror Ardell Jackson
    for more details.

    Sorors, please remember Soror Angelynne Armstrong in
    yotir thoughts and prayers. Soror Angie has resigned
    from active involvement with the Sorority ^ye to, medical »
    problems. However, she would like to keep abreast of all -
    special functions and activities that occur within the
    Sorority.
    VARIOUS CHAPTER MEETINGS
    The Akateens Committee will meet Wednesday, October 11th, at 6:00 p.m. at Von Tobel Middle School. Sorors, the Akateens Committee needs additional participation to keep the Akateen program effective. Please volunteer to participate in the next workshop or chaperon the next outing. Thank you.

    Executive Committee will meet at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 18th at the home of Soror Sandra Stewart-Bass 454-4473.

    The Health Committe will meet at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, November 1st at the West Las Vegas Library.

    The Panhellenic Council meets once a month at the West Las Vegas Library. The Council needs more participation. Sorors, please volunteer to attend a few of the meetings to show our support. Contact Soror Joann Weddle or Soror Ardell Jackson for dates and times.

    UPCOMING EVENTS
    Our well renown Health Committee Chair, Soror Dorothy Johnson will be making two guest appearances in October. On Monday, October 9, she will appear on the morning television program A M. Southern Nevada, and on Wednesday, October 11, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. she will be speaking at Bally’s to the Nevada Public Health Association. This event is sponsored by the National Cancer Information Service.

    Soror Dorothy and the NBLIC will be sponsoring a BREAST SELF EXAM workshop for the Akateens, Kappa Xi, and all young ladies from the age of 14 to 21 at 10:00 a m., on Saturday, October 14th, at the West Las Vegas Library. Please come out and support this event.

    The Drifters will be holding their tenth annual luncheon at Nellis Air Force Base on Saturday, October 28,1995, 12:00 noon. Tickets are $25.00 each. See Soror Betty for additional information.
