pQpy LAS VEGAS HOSPITAL AND 0LINIG 201 North Eights Street Las Vegas, Nevada May 6, 1948 George Allard, Chairman Public Service Commission Carson City, Nevada Dear Mr. Allard: A drastic increase in rates for water service to this Institution has motivated us to request some information from the Commission. Hates have been Increased from #15.00 per month, facilities: as shown in the following breakdown of 10 Rooms 3,50 38 Rooms m 15j* ea 5.70 4 Water Closets, private 1.00 6 Water Closets, Public 3.00 2 Baths, private .50 2 Baths, public 1 .7 5 4 Drinking Fountains (1 free, 3 @ $3*50 ea) 10.50 1 Laundry (operates 6 day week) 30.00 1 Cafe 2,50 Total monthly rate 57*45 We feel that there exists some pronounced inconsistencies in this schedule, with partlfular reference tc the laundry and cafe Items. It is our understanding that rates for water service in this area are fixed by the Commission. If this is correct, is It Intended that the rats for hospital water consumption include such adjunctive facilities as kitchen and laundry; or are they to be assessed as a distinctly separate commercial or custom operation? Our laundry is an adjunctive operation incident to hospital operation. It is small, being operated by two employees; and the excessive cost of water service is greatly disproportionate to the amount of water used as well as to the rest of the water service. In view of it's limited else and the fact that production ie restricted to the hospital, it appears that the charge is unreasonable. The same reasoning applies to the kitchen. pretation Wiolf l Coymomui spslieoans eR eagduvliastei oinfs .these rates are proper interVery truly yours, LAB VEGAS HOSPITAL & CLINIC By L. W.
