Holiday on Ice World Premiere In Knoxville Aug. 11-17; Nashville 19-24 The 1970 edition of Holiday on Ice features elaborate and sensational production numbers. Skaters shown above salute the 25th birthday of the internationally famed skating revue in the opening episode. The Silver Anniversary edition of Holiday on Ice, the finest and most elaborate in history, premiers in Knoxville then travels to Nashville before opening in Madison Square Garden in New York City. The 1970 edition will start the tour in Knoxville's Civic Coliseum Aug. 11-17 with shows nightly at 8 p.m. except Sunday. Matinees are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The six day Nashville engagement is August 19-24. Performances are nightly at 8 p.m. except Sunday with matinees Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Ronnie Robertson, the world's top skating performer, again headlines the ice extravaganza. He is backed by a galaxy of skating stars and ice comics. The skaters include Ray Balmer, returning after two years of starring with the European "Holiday" show; Tommy Allen, a shining light among the younger head- liners; Miss Marei Langenbein, the German champion making her second American tour; Alice Quessy, premier ballerina of "Holiday," Grete Borgen, four times Norwegian amateur champion; and Juanita Percelly, the outstanding young star who never performed as an amateur. Because of the 25th Silver Anniversary, the show's numbers this year will be based on traditional holidays ?╟÷ birthdays, St. Valentine's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas ?╟÷plus a good old fashioned Roman holiday number. The all new show was created, staged, and directed by Don Arden, the genius behind many of the great shows in Las Vegas and Paris. Costumes were designed by Freddie Wittop. Tickets are on sale at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville and the Auditorium and Harveys Downtown Ticket Office in Nashville.
