April 6th, 1919 Mr. W.H.Comstock, Asst. Gen’ l . Mgr., X.A. & B.L. Railroad, Los Angeles, Gal i f . Dear S ir :- Acknowledging receipt of your le tt e r of March 31sta in reference to ground fo r use as a ball park, . 1 note Mr. Kerry’ s le tt e r o f March 28th with attached map. showing proposed location. fh is ground is situated d ire ctly la s t o f the Freight House and is ground formbrly used as a b a ll park, - but during the time it was used we were in constant fear a ll the time of having the Freight House burned down as they use the platform fo r a grand stand, and with the dry climate here and people who are watching the games always smoking, i t is very dangerous to start the practice again. I have talked the matter over with Mr. Heaton and he is very much opposed to the use of this ground again fo r a ball park. And the pole lin e which was constructed across there c a rrie e the e le c tric energy to both of the Hospital buildings and the building which they request to be moved is now d ire c tly across Main Street from the main Hospital building and is used as a Hospital fo r Mexicans. I do not believe it would be at a ll wise to move this building away from it s present location I have talked the matter over with Walter hears and I believe that an elegant ball ground could be established West of the Depot and d ire ctly lorth of the Shop Yard fence. It is perfectly level and with some l i t t l e work of clearing o f f the same it would be a much better ball ground than that requested in Mr, Merry’ s le tt e r-. I also believe it would be a mighty good idea fo r the Bailroad Company to' fin an cially assist the boys in preparing this ground fo r a ball park, as you are aware we have no reading rooms or amusements o f any kind fo r the intertainxnent of the employees and a ball park at Xas Vegas can be used almost nine months in the year. I f 1 can be of any further service to you in th is matter kindly write me. Yours very truly. Vice Bres. & Agent
