WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners desires to recognize the worthwhile efforts of the Service League; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of City Commissioners at a regular meeting held on the 18th day of November, 1959, that the following described real property, encompassed within the Lions Club Park, is hereby renamed "SERVICE LEAGUE CENTER" and set aside for the Service League to develop and maintain as a public facility, retaining, however, the right and privilege of the public to at all times use the said area for recreational purposes. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the description of said park area is as follows: A certain tract or parcel of land lying and being situate in the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, and being a portion of the South One-Half (S½) of the Northwest One-quarter (NW¼) of Section 26, Township 20 South, Range 61 East, M. D. B. & M., and being more particularly described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at point on the North right-of-way of Washington Avenue said point being South 89° 49' 07" West distant 1035.74 feet and North 0° 00' 35" East distant 50 feet from the center one-quarter of Section 26, Township 20 South, Range 61 East, thence North 0° 00' 35" East a distance of 700.08 feet to a point on the North line of that certain parcel conveyed by the Las Vegas Land and Water Company to the City of Las Vegas as described by Document 171912, Book 211, Official Records as Parcel 1, recorded August 28, 1959 in the Office of the County Recorder, Clark County, Nevada, thence South 89° 32' 47" West along said North line a distance of 515-01 feet, thence South 0° 00' 35" West a distance of 400 feet, to a point on North line of the area set aside as the Lion's Park Little League Ball Park, thence North 89° 49' 07" East a distance of 170 feet, thence South 45° 05' 09" East along the Westerly line of said parcel a distance of 84.71 feet, thence South 0° 00' 35" West along the East line of said Ball Park a distance of 237.63 feet to a point on the North right-of-way line of Washington Avenue aforementioned, thence North 89° 49' 07" East a distance 285 feet to the point of beginning, containing 6.173 acres more or less, save and except the North 40 feet and East 60 feet thereof reserved for street purposes. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this new designation shall be posted and marked upon all of the maps of the City and shall be known by the name "SERVICE LEAGUE CENTER" hereafter. ____/s/ Oran K. ART LEAGUE CENTER Deputy City Attorney Whitmore read a proposed resolution renaming a part of the Lions Club Park Lions Club Park as "Art League Center," to be developed by the Art League. Resolution Commissioner Sharp moved the following resolution be adopted and order made: Adopted RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Las Vegas is interested in the installation and maintenance of additional parks and park facilities throughout the City; and WHEREAS, it is desirable in connection therewith to provide and designate areas within the City; and WHEREAS, the ART LEAGUE of Las Vegas desires to establish and maintain an area for recreational purposes within the City; and WHEREAS, it would be in the best interests of the City, and all concerned, that a portion of Lions Club Park be designated and renamed as a recreational area to be established by the Art League; and WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners desires to recognize the worthwhile efforts of the Art League; 11-18-59
