Las Vegas Seview Jo’ur nai-December 21, 1949 IMfll m m CONFER ON WATER FOR VEGAS VALLEY—The Colorado river commission met yesterday with officials of the Las Vegas valley water district to determine what water the district could secure from Lake Mead. CRC Pledges Support to Water District Complete cooperation of the Nevada, Colorado River commission with the directors of the Las Vegas Valley water district in tapping Lake Mead to augment the water supply in the valley, was pledged at a joint meeting yesterday afternoon. The commission agreed to furnish a maximum of 8,000,000 gallons per day from the present facility connecting the lake with Basic plant, until 1958-60 and to contract for an additional 30,- 000,000 gallons per day for transmission over the district’s own facility after that date. This, it was pointed out by! Chairman Harry Miller of the water district board, will clear the way*fbr'financing the’ pro? gram which has beerfTentatively agreed upon for the water development in this area. Next step will be the negotiation of a purchase - agreement with the Las Vegas Land and Water company which will enable the district to take over the distributing and producing facilities in Las Vegas, and this will be gone into right after the first of the year, Miller indicated.
