I agree.SponsorshipSec ision Sought For Cage Event A decision as to whether or not the Stardust Hotel will sponsor the Stardust Invitational Basketball Tournament ?╟÷ scheduled next Feb. 11-13 at the new Convention Hall ?╟÷ may be made tonight. The Strip hotel took over what was previously the Southwestern Invitational Basketball Tournament on June 14 and promised to underwrite the estimated $10,000 in costs, but since, there has been some oppo- sition from other hotel in- terests which do not think that one hotel should cap- italize on an event of this kind. Members of the County Fair and Recreation Board met Wednesday at the Convention Hall with the group?╟╓s advisory board and other hotel officials to dis- cuss sponsorship of the tournament and the fol- lowing picture unfolded: It was revealed that the Stardust offer was the only one received, but that an agreement was made to contact the other hotels to see if they were interested in co-sponsorship. Fair Board representa- tives tentatively agreed that they would lay out $18,000 for a removable basketball floor and re- cover the outlay by charg- ing $500 for each use, plus installation costs. Members of the tourna- ment board of directors will meet tonight at the Stardust in an effort to set- tle the issue.
