I agree.Lob Angeles - March 30, 19^5 Orlg HBB-WashnDC Cy GFA GTW BHP-Omaha A-I90. 1. Last hot season private operator failed utterly In Its service and our Co. made connection with private Co's distributing system and furnished additional water on meter basis. Subsequently LVL&W has taken title to distribution system and under WPB OWU Serial No. 085*1-81 we are now constructing permanent main to adequately serve the two subdivisions and It Is planned to actually take over all service May 1st. 2. Private Water Co.'s prodn during winter months under heavy pumping developed maximum of 350,000 GPD, but this prodn is greatly reduced in hot weather when, as previously stated, the Water Co. is pulling heavily on intercepting horizon. 3. It is not proposed to maintain connection with private wells. 4. It Is true that the hot weather per capita consumption of water in Las Vegas is excessive, largely beoause during extreme heat that Is maintained during July, August and Sept., of 110 to 120 deg., large amount of water is required for lawns to keep them from drying up. Of the 10,800,000 GPD average consumption during Aug 19*}4, about 1,500»000 GPD was used by RR for its operating requirements, a demand that Is occasioned by unusually large number of trains inoldent to the Paoifio war.
