V LA-20-6 Omaha, Sept, 4, 1935, Mr. A.L, Coey - Los Angeles: Please see Mr. Knickerbocker’ s copy of Mr. Bracken’ s le tte r of August 26th recommending new well at Las Vegas. Information I have relative to water f a c ilit i e s at Las Vegas not complete and wish you would send me a print /properly colored showing our water f a c ilit i e s at Las Vegas, particu larly the situation around the big well and the spring area. I would also like to have estimated cost fo r d r illin g a new w ell, together with estimated cost of any additional j pipe lin es which w ill be necessary to connect this well to our present fa c ilit i e s , also estimate covering renewal of wood stave pipe,which you advised me sometime ago was in bad shape, with cast iron pipe, probably of a larger diameter. Print should also indicate location of new w ell. I re c a ll also the p o ssib ility of bringing in some more springs, which may eliminate necessity fo r a new w ell; however, i f information contained in Mr. Bracken’ s le tte r is correct that no irrigatio n water was available fo r the ranch then the flow from the springs this summer must have been very small. There is also the question of disposition of surplus water from a new flowing well during the winter season and necessity to guard against adverse f i li n g on this surplus water i f same cannot be put to ben eficial use on the ranch property. I would also appreciate your giving me your reaction to the entire proposition with any recommendations you consider desirable over and above the construction of new well recom­mended by Mr. Bracken. Consideration should also be given to necessity fo r additional storage. Would lik e to have above information as promptly as possible and when received want to look the situation over with you on the ground.
