V LA-20-6 Omaha, Sept, 4, 1935, Mr. A.L, Coey - Los Angeles: Please see Mr. Knickerbocker’ s copy of Mr. Bracken’ s le tte r of August 26th recommending new well at Las Vegas. Information I have relative to water f a c ilit i e s at Las Vegas not complete and wish you would send me a print /properly colored showing our water f a c ilit i e s at Las Vegas, particu larly the situation around the big well and the spring area. I would also like to have estimated cost fo r d r illin g a new w ell, together with estimated cost of any additional j pipe lin es which w ill be necessary to connect this well to our present fa c ilit i e s , also estimate covering renewal of wood stave pipe, which you advised me sometime ago was in bad shape, with cast iron pipe, probably of a larger diameter. Print should also indicate location of new w ell. I re c a ll also the p o ssib ility of bringing in some more springs, which may eliminate necessity fo r a new w ell; however, i f information contained in Mr. Bracken’ s le tte r is correct that no irrigatio n water was available fo r the ranch then the flow from the springs this summer must have been very small. There is also the question of disposition of surplus water from a new flowing well during the winter season and necessity to guard against adverse f i li n g on this surplus water i f same cannot be put to ben eficial use on the ranch property. I would also appreciate your giving me your reaction to the entire proposition with any recommendations you consider desirable over and above the construction of new well recommended by Mr. Bracken. Consideration should also be given to necessity fo r additional storage. Would lik e to have above information as promptly as possible and when received want to look the situation over with you on the ground.
