% Los Angeles, April 13* 1953 80-12 Mr. Calvin M. Cory* (cc - Mr. Wm. Reinhardt Mr. W, R. Rouse) W M - R-ftPR 14 1953 Our executives have approved the transfer of the water production facilities of the Railroad Companies to the Las Vegas Land and Water Company. They have also approved of the transfer of the LA&SL water appropriation of 2.5 c. f.a. in Well No. 1 to the shop well. Mr. Reinhardt has received a wire from Mr. Stoddard advising that request covering the rearrangement of the water distributing facilities in the shop grounds at Las Vegas has been submitted for formal approval, and when a p p r o v a l is received, Mr. Reinhardt will be advised promptly. 1 think that there is no doubt that formal approval for the rearrangement of the r a ilr o a d distribution facilities in the shop grounds will be received shortly. We will go ahead with the transfer of the water production facilities of the Railroad Company immediately. Therefore it will be necessary for the Railroad Company to take water from the transmission system of the LVL&W Company until its own facilities in the shop grounds are placed in operation. For that reason I do not believe that the transfer of the water appropriation should be c o m p le te d until the distribution facilities in the shop grounds are in such condition that water to all Railroad facilities can be distributed from the shop well without taking water from the transmission lines of the LVL&WCompany. Bearing that in mind, will you progress the application for the transfer of this appropriation to the existing shop well? I understand that it is necessary t o hire a well aurveyor licensed in the State of Nevada in connection with this transfer and that such expense will be in the neighborhood of $ 1 0 0 . Y ou are authorized to undertake the necessary e x p e n d itu re for this purpose. It is Mr. Reinhardt's view that an additional well in the shop grounds should not be drilled until after the R .U A. ft PR 1 6 1^53 APH 14 19“ ’ c» c.
