The 65 year old veteran casino executive was a Las Vegas resident for more than 45 years. Speer, who held the position of Assistant Casino Manager at the Sands for the past three years, had extensive casino management experience totaling 35 years. He was formerly associated with the Desert Inn and Tropicana Hotels, both in the capacity of General Manager. The personable executive graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1932 where he starred on the undefeated Wildcat football team. He was an avid golf enthusiast, associated with golf tournaments and events with the Sands. Speer is survived by his wife, Nila, sons Jerry and Don, Jr. and daughter, Christy. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Palm Mortuary on Main Street. He will lie in repose Wednesday afternoon and evening at Palm. -30- ^0 THE ?·?dtvde so far ahead it will always be new!
