Schuster Vice President Harold Blitzer Treasurer Jean Lesser Secretary Ludwig Bauer Parliamentarian Sam Chinkes Board Members David Berkovits Gina Klonoff Henry Kronberg Alexander Kuechel Lydia Lebovic Benjamin Lesser Perry Oehlbaum Pola Zimmerman Photographer Willie Lebovic Minutes of the Meeting of Board of Directors and Officers of Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada (HSGSN) at The Schuster Home, February 9, 2003 Present: Henry Schuster, Anita Schuster, Harold Blitzer, Jean Lesser, Ludwig Bauer, David Berkovits, Sam Chinkes, Gina Klonoff, Henry Kronberg, Alexander Kuechel, Lydia Lebovic, Benjamin Lesser, Perry Oehlbaum, Pola Zimmerman. 1. The Meeting was called to order by President Schuster at 11:00 AM. 2. The Minutes of the Board Meeting, November 14, 2002 were approved. 3. The Board expressed thanks to the Adelsons for providing the Chanukah Party December 1, 2002. 4. Treasurer Jean Lesser reported that the Account is now at Weils Fargo Bank. The current balance, from dues and contributions, and after expenses, was $6,651. Praise was given to Lydia Lebovic for her fund-raising effort. It was suggested that members be informed frequently that gifts to HSGSN are tax-deductibie. 5. President's Reports and Old Business a. President Schuster informed the Board that Stephen Nasser represented HSGSN at Jan 27 Organizational Meeting for the Israel Independence celebration (May 4, Sands Expo). A booth was retained by HSGSN ($54). Details of staffing and handouts, etc., to be decided. b. The Bus trip to Death Valley, Sunday, Feb. 23 has been sold out. 6. New Business a. Yom Has'noah, will take place at Ner Tamid on April 29. The Board voted to have $100 sent to Ner Tamid to support this important event. b. Meyer Bodoff of the Jewish Federation, Las Vegas visited with the Board and made a passionate appeal for funds needed in Israel in view of the constant suicide attacks. The board voted unanimously to send a donation of $1,500, earmarked solely for donation to this urgent Israeli cause. c. The letter from the Conference of Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, dated Dec. 22, 2002 requires HSGSN to submit a detailed report by the President to report on such matters as !) A short narrative describing the program; ii) A detailed financial Report; and iii) The number of attendees at each Meeting. The Board voted unanimously to have Presidents Schuster prepare and submit such a Report. 7. Announcements a. Gina Klonoff announced a Clark County wide Holocaust Workshop for students and teachers on May 6. The program will be from 2:45-8:00 PM and is expected to fill 10 rooms. Survivors were encouraged to participate in that event, b. The President encouraged members of the Board and the organization to visit the sick and disabled. Information of afflicted people can be obtained from the Schusters. 8. The Board thanked Henry and Anita Schuster for so graciously providing a delicious brunch to the Board, prior to the actual Meeting. 9. Meeting adjourned at 12:30 PM.
