WATERS, AGT., LOS ANGELES, CAL. W. R. BRACKEN, AGT., C o m p a n y ,, August 16, 1909, Mr.'J.Ross Clark,’ Member Special Committee,1 Los Angeles, Cal. Bear Sir: I have your favor of the fifteenth, relative to the amount of rental which shall he charged for houses being erected by the company at Las Vegas. Rents have been generally too high at Las Vegas, and I presume it will be to the interests of the company for houses owned by them to be rented at a low enough rate to make it a consideration when securing men to work in the shops. ly idea is that we should charge a sufficient rental to,' First, pay interest on the value of the lot and the house; Second',' to take care of the insurance; Third, to reimburse us for all repairs and renewals. I do not mean to say that rents should simply be enough to take care of these three items,’ but it should be sufficient at least to take- care of these, and something more Slight be added if we can do it without increasing the rental too much.
