Anthony Elizabeth Cady Stanton Sojourner Truth Carrie Chapman Catt Maud Wood Park Lucy Burns Alice Paul Women wouldn't have the right to vote without them! Dear Colleague, For many girls, it is hard to believe that less than 100 years ago women were not allowed to vote. Two third-grade girls in my district read a book about the women's suffrage movement and they were inspired to act. They began a petition at their school in support of a day to commemorate the women suffragists and presented the petition with over 200 signatures to me. I support the girls' endeavor to celebrate the work of the suffragists and I plan on introducing a resolution on July 14th, expressing the sense of Congress that a day should be established to commemorate the women suffragists who fought for and won the right of women to vote in the United States. This day would give Americans an opportunity to celebrate the brave suffragists who worked tirelessly so that women have the right to vote. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution and honoring the suffragists who won women the right to vote. If you have any questions or would like to cosponsor this resolution, please contact Shannon von Felden of my staff at 225-5965.
