REPORT OF THE CURATOR OF ARCHAEOLOGY FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, 1963 Work in September comprised of continuing the analysis of cordage from Falcon Hill and the ever-continuing task of answering correspondence. A start was made to the report of the basketry from Falcon Hill and the specimens were checked over to pick out 10 samples for radiocarbon dating. In addition, a start was made in analysing the Museum's collection of Washo basketry. A start was also made in identifying the Museum's basketry collection. Photographs were made of various artifacts for record (the intended Cl4 samples) and for publication. A field trip was made to the Sweetwater Mountains south of Wellington with Mr. Tom Oswald to see and record some sites he had found there. The last nine lays of the month were spent at Lehman Caves National Monument, near Baker, Nevada, doing archaeological work for the Museum under a contract with the National Park Service. I was assisted by George Kritzrsan and Peter Williams.
