SCOTT |dany outstanding replies have graced the \^tage of the Moulin Rouge In Hollywood, both under the late Earl Carroll?╟╓s aegis and the banner of its current enterprising owner, Frank Sennes. I have - seen most of the footlight extravaganzas 1 presented there since opening night I in December of 1938,* and am happy" to report that ?╟úWonderf uIV Wor 1 d,?╟Ñ ian lullaby. She scdifid a tremendous 5 hit vjith | her recap of former Broadway notables, danced gracefully and proved to be a fine all-around entertainer. Her mother, in a surprise appearance, played boogie woogie on the piano. I 'Various notables came on stage Thursday night after the finale number and congratulated Sennes, Arden, Miss Alberghetti and the entire cast. Berle, Davis Jr., Durante and Lewis indulged in some comical" sideplay. Anna Maria which arrived Thursday night, rates right at the top oPthe list. It?╟╓s "truly a great show* : The spectacular production, starring beauteous Anna Maria Alberghetti, is a tribute to Donn Arden, who staged and directed it;; to Bonnie Hunt and ?√ßU.Qvmr MalHnnajn nVinmn?╟÷ zzinsnaij, ?╟ NOSXHOf HVJMO ?╟ gwvav *o aavHora ^aapiseijj-aoiA hhicuivho kosihevh aajaxvHO aniHd ^uaptssij OTiatfVHQ ^vHaou tt?6I-AX6t ?╟ HaiaKTVHO AHHVH U6i*i8$x ?╟ siio avho KosiaavH JLNYdWOD H0HH1W-S3WIX 3HX (;mxv[Q ut aim otjeioouiap jo 01 d ui e x a jin 19S oj?╟? paSpaid on -qndaj aq; jo fhttpunoj aqp jo iCjHSJ0Aiuue pugg aqj no euiqo JO juapisaij se scav qaqs-iex g q e t q 0 omissiieaouaD ?╟≤QZt oj jaqoPO -ap sauejd ueunao jo qoj MJ Suuq oj ifep atfims e if sauejd izbnl ?·01 pa^ojjsap ZWA ?·y qjg ?╟≤g*a aqj, mT'TT?╟╓PO ODV SHV3A ?·1 pm ??joDS aqj pue jno omj qjm pq oj araeo aapiaq aajuao sauifx ??H,L i?? * S3VNIJ- m 4/The Beverly Hills Citizen Fri., Ocf. 10, 195# THE Charlton is a standout as is Sandra Dale and Nick Vovace-vich. Chandra Kaly, Greg Loren, Dick Goltry and Freddie Letuli also register strongly throughout the evening. The excellent music and lyrics are by Lenny Adelson and Lyn Murray. The magnificent costumes are by Madame Berthe and split-timing chore-ogyapfiy* executed by Bonnie Hunt and Larry Maldonado. Dick Stabile and his orchestra backs the show beautifully and alternates for dancing. In summing up, many glorious adjectives have been used to describe Frank Sennes?╟╓ Moulin Rouge. Suffice it to say that it?╟╓s one of THE wonders of California, dwarfed by perhaps the Redwoods of Yosemite. Sennes and Arden Unveil Another Smash Hit at | Hollywood's Moulin Rouge By BOB SABEL \ Last night, Frank Sennes un-jveiled his new production, ^Wonderful World,?╟Ñ at the Moulin Rouge theatre - restaurant in Hollywood. The huge stage has been made even bigger and now almost forms a semi - circle around the audience. Staged and directed by Donn Arden, this show is the biggest yet. Every year, Messrs. Sennes and Arden surpass the previous year?╟╓s efforts and, frankly, I don?╟╓t know of any .place in the world where entertainment is dished out so liberally at such an inexpensive cost to the patron. All the technical and creative genius of Arden and his staff have been successfully blended in this extravaganza. The opening spectacle is a Wild West show complete with cowgirls, cowpokes, hustlers, Indians and: three magnificent horses gallop-1 ing over the spacious stage. ! The middle portion of the 1 show takes place on a London street where almost 50 dancers dance the blues in the" shadow of Big Ben. From London, Arden swings the cast down to Africa for a fantastic array of natives, witch doctors, sword dancers and sacred birds of voodoo. The climax of this scene occurs when a hunting party arrives on elephants and the woman is kidnaped and sacrificed on a flaming bier while, the billows of smoke sends the stage full of natives into wild ecstacy. If this weren?╟╓t enough, Sennes also features the zany trio, 'The Happy Jesters,?╟Ñ who are a favorite with the Moulin Rouge crowds. Every year they return, and every year their offbeat antics are a big crowd-pleaser. The star of the show however, is Anna Maria Alberghetti who sings in her platinum pitched soprano everything from ?╟úLa Traviata?╟Ñ and ?╟úButterfly?╟Ñ to Cole Porter and the blues. She dances and cavorts in several costumes, from a Japanese kimona to a flapper outfit with bugle beads and headache-band. She?╟╓s a superb entertainer and the opening night crowd gave her a standing ovation. ( Dramatic dancer Ffolliott ?╟≤nep.iq jnn..
