APPROVAL OF SENATE MINUTES 20-7: MOTION TO APPROVE BY SENATOR COZINE. SECONDED BY SENATOR BENNEMAN. THE FOLLOWING CORRECTIONS WERE MADE: (1) SENATOR BENNET WAS UNEXCUSED FROM SENATE MEETING 20-6. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. IV. ANNOUNCEMENTS: CSUN SENATE PRESIDENT PRO-TEMPORE KARI COZINE HAD NO ANNOUNCEMENTS. CSUN VICE PRESIDENT B.J. WILLIARD/ENGEL ANNOUNCED THAT THERE WILL BE A APPROPRIATIONS BOARD MEETING, AND THE LOCATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY. CSUN SENATE PRESIDENT GINA B. POLOVINA STATED THAT SENATE SECRETARY CANDIDATE WAS ON THE AGENDA. TYRONE SMITH, OSI DIRECTOR HAS RESIGNED HIS POST. V. BOARD, COMMITTEE, AND DIRECTOR REPORTS: DAN BUNIN, OF THE PUBLICATIONS BOARD, ANNOUNCED THAT HE HAS A WEEK TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE BOARD. HE ALSO STATED THAT QUICKSILVER WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE PRINTERS YESTERDAY. HE MENTIONED THAT THREE PEOPLE ARE WORKING WITH AN EDITOR ON THE YEARBOOK, THEY SHOULD START AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SUMMER ON A 3 0-MINUTE VIDEO YEARBOOK. HE MENTIONED THAT PEOPLE HAVE DEFINITE OPINIONS ABOUT THE YELLIN1 REBEL. PEOPLE WANT A NAME CHANGE, FORMAT CHANGE, AND BETTER QUALITY. HE STATED THAT THE PUBLICATIONS BOARD HAS A NEW OPERATING POLICY THAT IS ALMOST FINISHED, AND SHOULD BE DONE BY THE NEXT MEETING. VI. STATE OF THE CAMPUS ADDRESS: A. PRESIDENT JOE BUNIN TO GO OUT OF THE ORDER OF THE DAY TO THE STATE OF THE CAMPUS ADDITIONS. MIKE KENNEDY, DIRECTOR OF NSA, STATED THAT A MEMO WAS SENT OUT FOR IDEAS ON FUNDING STUDENT HEALTH CARE. HE DISTRIBUTED A PROPOSAL TO SENATORS, SO STUDENTS ARE AWARE OF WHAT CSUN CAN DO FOR THEM. HE STATED THAT UNLV IS ONE OF MOST WANTED SCHOOLS BY THE US STUDENT ASSOCIATION. PAIGE ZIELINSKI, DIRECTOR OF ELECTIONS BOARD, MENTIONED THAT EXECATIVE BOARD FILING PACKETS WOULD BE PICKED UP AS SOON AS THEY WERE FINISHED: THEY ARE BEING TYPED. SHE STATED THAT THEY ARE GOING TO WORK ON TICKETS, AND HOW MANY ELECTION BOOTHS, AND WHERE THE LOCATION WOULD BE. DAN WALL, CHIEF JUSTICE, STATED THAT THE TYRONE CASE REGARDING PAID DIRECTORS HOLDING DOUBLE DUTY. CSUN POSITIONS ARE NOW MUTE. HE ALSO MENTIONED THE KENNEDY VS. CSUN FOR BYLAW 27, (DIRECTORS SPEAKING IN CLASS) IS PENDING. JAMAL ALLEN, DIRECTOR OF OSI, STATED THAT OSI WILL BE WORKING EXTENSIVELY WITH THE CAMPUS MEDIA. HE MENTIONED THAT THEY WANTED TO MAKE STUDENTS AWARE OF CSUN AND WHAT IT DOES. LARRY HOLMES, NEW CSUN BUSINESS MANAGER, STATED THREE THREE DIFFERENT FACTIONS: PROFESSIONALS, INSTRUCTORS, AND STUDENTS, ON UNLV AND WILL ENDEAVOR TO ACT AS LIASON BETWEEN THE THREE PARTIES. HE ALSO STATED THAT IF A STUDENT HAS A GOOD IDEA FOR THE CAMPUS, THAT HE IS HERE TO HELP US AND NOT RESTRICT US. PAT TUOHY, STUDENT SERVICES DIRECTOR, STATED THAT LAST SEMESTER'S LECTURE NOTE SERVICE WAS WORTHLESS, BUT IS MORE PROFITABLE NOW. HE STATED THAT IT'S TIME TO START WORKING WITH STOCKBAUER'S OFFICE FOR THE JOB FAIR ON FEBRUARY 14, TO GET ADVERTISEMENTS FOR THE JOB FAIR. DINNER TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ON A CRITERIA BASIS TO 3 00 PEOPLE. HE MENTIONED THAT IN MARCH THERE WILL BE MINUTES - SENATE MEETING 2 0-07 THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 199 0 PAGE THREE A HANDICAP AWARENESS DAY, AND GREEKS WILL GET POINTS FOR THE GREEK WEEK BY ATTENDING. ROB ROSENTHAL, KUNV GENERAL MANAGER, STATED THAT HE HAS NOTHING NEW IS TO REPORT, SINCE THE LAST SENATE MEETING. HE MENTIONED THAT KUNV BROUGHT IN REVENUE OF $3,248. CSUN SENATE PRESIDENT POLOVINA YIELDED THE FLOOR TO MIKE UPCHURCH. HE STATED THAT PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ENCOUNTERED, THEY NEED A PLACE TO EDIT, HOPEFULLY NV AUDIO VISUAL WILL LET THEM IN. HE STATED THAT THE PRESS RELEASE WILL BE DISTRIBUTED HOPSEFULLY IN LATE APRIL. HE MENTIONED THAT THEY'RE NOT ON TIME, BUT THEY'RE UNDER BUDGET. SENATOR BRANDI HOFFMAN, CHAIRMAN SHAC, STATED THAT THEY HAD A MEETING TODAY AND THERE IS NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS CONCERNING DATE RAPE AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS WORKSHOPS: SENATOR KIM ELLIOTT, BYLAWS CHAIRMAN, STATED THEY HAD A MEETING TODAY AND SENATE BILLS 1 AND 2 WILL STAY AS IS SENATE BILL 3 IS OUT OF ORDER, AND SENATE BILL 4 HAS A SLIGHT CHANGE. SENATOR BUD BENNEMAN STATED THAT THE ALCOHOL POLICY DRAFT HAS BEEN FINALIZED. HE MENTIONED THAT THE STUDENT CONDUCT CODE WILL BE GIVEN TO EACH STUDENT SO THEY KNOW WHAT TO FOLLOW. HE STATED THAT THE GREEKS WILL PROBABLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT. CSUN VICE PRESIDENT ENGEL, ORGANIZATIONS CHAIRMAN, STATED THAT THEY HAS A MEETING ON LAST TUESDAY AT 4:00 P.M. AND TODAY AT 3:30 P.M. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THEY'RE WAITING TO GET REPORTS BACK, SO THEY CAN START A NEWSLETTER. FEBRUARY 15 WILL BE THE LAST DAY FOR ORGANIZATIONS TO SUBMIT PACKETS FOR CURRENT CSUN RECOGNITION. SENATOR TRACI SMITH, MEMBER FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND PROGRAMMING BOARD, STATED THAT THEY HAD A SUCCESSFUL PEP RALLY. SHE ANNOUNCED THAT A VALENTINE'S DAY DANCE WILL BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 10 AT THE RIO HOTEL. BUSES WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR THE RESIDENCE HALL STUDENTS. SHE STATED THAT SHE WOULD VOLUNTEER HER HELP WITH THE DATE RAPE PROGRAM. SENATOR PRATT WELCOMED SENATOR DUPALO. HE STATED THAT HE WOULD VOLUNTEER HIS HELP WITH THE ALCOHOL POLICY PROGRAM. SENATOR RAMSEY WELCOMED SENATOR DUPALO. SHE ALSO STATED THAT IF HE WANT ANY HELP, SEE HER. SENATOR HOFFMAN CONGRATULATED SENATOR DUPALO, THEN GAVE RESIGNATION OF HER SEAT ON THE SENATE. SHE STATED THAT SHE RECOGNIZED AND APPRECIATED ALL THE SUPPORT FROM CSUN IN BSA'S RECENT HEATED ISSUE. SENATOR COLEBROOK INQUIRED AS TO THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE DAY CARE REP. HE MENTIONED THAT THE STATE OF THE CAMPUS ADDRESSES WERE OK, BUT IT SHOULD BE PRESENTED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER. hE CONGRATULATED SENATOR DUPALO. SHE CONGRATULATED SENATOR DUPALO AND STATED THAT SHE WAS SHOCKED ABOUT BRANI RESIGNING. SHE MENTIONED THAT THE PROGRAM THAT MIKE UPCHURCH IS WORKING ON IS GOOD AND IT WILL BE NEAT WHEN IT IS DONE. SHE SAID RECENT PEP RALLY LOOKED PRETTY SUCCESSFUL. SHE ALSO MENTIONED MOT TO LOOK AT ISSUES AS IF YOU'RE VOTING FOR HER OR AGAINST HER, BUT THAT AS YOU'RE DOING YOUR JOB AS ELECTED SENATORS AND TO MAKE CERTAIN THERE SEEMS TO BE NO LOOPHOLES. X.
