L.L. Arnett Herbert Krause Joe S. Ronnow Mayor Commissioner Commissioner H L. Perry Commissioner. Minutes of a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, held on the 3rd day of July, 1937 at the hour of three thirty o'clock P.M. Present Mayor Arnett, Commissioners Krause and Ronnow, City Attorney Austin and City Clerk Viola Burns. Present also were Congressman Scrugham, A.C.G ant and Oliver Goerman from the Chamber of Commerce, A.L. Cahlan of the Las Vegas Review Journal, Lt. Governor Alward and City Engineer Baker. Mr. Scrugham explained that the W.P.A. had a sum, approximately $160,000.00 to be used toward construction of a Municipal Airport in the City of Las Vegas. Mr. Scrugham explained to the Board that it was very necessary that the City show no partiality toward the Western Air Express of the Transcontinental Western Air Lines, which had only recently acquired permission from the Dept. of Air Commerce for a line through Las Vegas. No definite action of any kind was taken at this meeting. No further business appearing before the Board at this time the meeting adjourned. OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. JULY 6th, 1937. Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held on the 6th day of July, 1937 at the hour of seven o'clock P.M. Roll call showed the following present Mayor Arnett, Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow City Attorney and Clerk. Absent Commissioner Perry. All claims allowed as per "Claims and Warrant Register" on file in the office of the Clerk. Report of City Clerk approved by the Mayor. Mr. A.W. Blackman appeared before the Board at this time and explained to the Board the plan for the operation of the "Recreational Programme" in the City of Las Vegas and the possible expense of the same to the City. On motion of Mr. Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the Board approve the action of the "Recreation Board" and the appointment of Paul Madsen, Supervisor and his assistances for the months of June 1st to Sept. 1st, 1937. Vote was Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Mr. Noland, attorney for A.C. Dlekin appeared before the Board in regard to the closing of Fifteenth Street from Fremont Street to Ogden Street. On motion of Commissioner Marble seconded by Commissioner Ronnow it was moved and carried that the business of closing Fifteenth Street be referred to the City Attorney, City Engineer, and the Street Commissioner, H.L. Perry, and that action be taken to close said street. Vote was Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. At this time the Board entered into a discussion with Mr. Blackman and Mr. Madsen as to securing a swimming pool to be used by the Recreational Programme. The use of the Mermaid Pool being considered. Mr. Delkin offered the pool at Ladds Resort to the Recreational Board if they saw fit to use same or place same in condition for use and that the lease on same to the City be $5.00 for a five year period. Mr. Blackman was instructed to investigate the possibility of using the Ladd Pool. The electricians appeared before the Board at this time and ask that they be consulted before any change was made in the City Electrical Ordinance, and stated that the fees, and examination fees were no higher than other cities. These gentlemen were informed that at such time as a change in the electrical ordinance was considered they would be given opportunity to appear before the Board. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE VACATING THE OLD ROAD OR HIGHWAY FROM THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF BOULDER ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, SOUTHERLY THROUGH BLOCKS NUMBERED ON (1), TWO (2), THREE (3), FOUR (4), FIVE (5), AND SIX (6) OF SAID BOULDER ADDITION, AND EXTENDING SOUTHERLY ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION THREE (3), TOWNSHIP TWENTY ONE (21) SOUTH RANGE SIXTY ONE (61) EAST, M.D.B. & M. TO SOUTH FIFTH STREET, EXTENDED" was read to the Board
