DANNY THOMAS, SAMMY DAVIS, JR., STAR IN SANDS 14TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Las Vegas, Nevada (December 12).......More than 1,000 guests from 50 states and 6 foreign countries will converge on the Sands Hotel, Thursday, December 15th, through Saturday, the 17th, as honored guests at the 14th Anniversary Celebration, highlighted by a special Copa Room show featuring Danny Thomas and Sammy Davis, Jr., it was announced today by Sands president Jack Entratter. The guests are mostly long-time patrons of the Sands and will be hosted by the management for the 3-day festival, featuring an authentic luau and discotheque on Thursday, the 15th, in the Grand Ballroom, the special Copa Room Anniversary Show on Friday, the 16th, and topped off with a big Anniversary Ball on Saturday, the 17th, in the Grand Ballroom. Nelson Riddle and his orchestra and Sonny King will provide dancing music and entertainment for the affair, which is expected to be attended by Edward G. Robinson, Lucille Ball, Red Skelton, James Stewart, Spencer Tracey and Natalie Wood and producers Mike Frankovich, Stanley Kramer and Arthur Freed. This 14th year of Sands1 operation marks the completion of the $9 million expansion program, which has increased the ground floor &rea by 300%. Now holding 777 rooms, the famous buildings named after racetracks, as well as the new tower, has helped the Sands to become the most heavily-trafficked resort in the world.
