Following the introduction of the head table President Joe called up-on beautiful Sue Parkingson for the news and as President Joe put it "any other rumors she might be hearing around town." Do you know something the rest of us don't know Joe? * * WELCOME BACK LORIN * It was good seeing Lorin Ronnow back in our midst. Lorin, good to have you back! .4 * VISITING ROTARIANS * Al Adams had the priviledge of in-troducing our visiting Rotarians and guests last week. We had visit-ing Rotarians from across the country, from Mammoth Lake, Calif.; St. Louis, Mo.; South Edmonton, Canada; Grand Rapids, Mich; Newport Town, Mass.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Burwich, Eng-land; Kaui, Hawaii; Corvalis, Oregon; Belaire, Maryland; Junction, Texas; Wellington, Delaware; Alina, Montana; Alexandria, Va; Oshkosh, WI; Green-bay, WI.; Glascow, Scotland; Hend-erson, Nevada and Las Vegas South-west. We really had a cross sec-tion from around the world. We al-so had seven guests of Rotarians visiting us. * OUTSTANDING ROTARIANS * Mr. Dale Tobler of North Las Vegas received the Las Vegas Rotarian of the Year Award last week, and we offer our congratulations to our own Leonard Fayle who represented our club well. Leonard has 40 years ' of perfect attendance, and has only missed three meetings in 50 years. Our hats off to you Len. * DISTRICT CONFERENCE * The dates have been screwed up on the District Conference for the last couple of weeks. This is from the horses mouth. The correct date of the District Conference at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego is April 28-May 1. That word from Ted Henderson. Elise has registration forms. It should be a fun weekend. * 60th ANNIVERSARY * Mark April 7th on your calendar. That is the date of the Las' Vegas Rotary Clubs 60th Anniversary Dinner Dance. More on that later. * ROTARY AUCTION * The Las Vegas Rotary Auction is just two weeks away. If you have not turn-ed in your item for the auction contact Darrell Luce, he needs your help. The auction is March 31st, and all proceeds go to the Rotary Foundation. Please do your part to make this the best ever. * ANOTHER PRESENTATION * President Joe announced that our club received another plaque called the "Good Neighbor Award" from the National Association of Countrys for our clubs efforts on Joe Schumm Park. Congrat-ulations again to all who participated. It's projects and working together such as this that makes our club the finest in the Community. * PAUL HARRIS PLEDGE CLUB * Several of our clubs' Paul Harris Fellows have already joined the new Paul Harris Pledge Club. This is a pledge to continue support of the Rotary Foundation in the amount of $100 per year. This can be designated in any way you desire, there are no restric-tions, as long as it falls within the parameters of the Rotary Foundation. You may start a Sustaining Membership for your wife or child, or someone else you wish to honor, or may use it for matching funds in your club. The designation does not need to be made now; you have twelve months in which to make it, it may also be designated to-wards the 3H program or any of the other Foundation Programs that suits your fancy. * PROGRAMS * LAST WEEK: Dr. Wayne Zeiger, fellow Rotarian pre-sented the 4 way Speech Contest. The contest pitted three high school stu-dents vying for an opportunity to travel to San Rimas, California on March 26th to participate in the Dis-trict Contest. The topic the contest-ants spoke on was "What the Rotary 4 Way test means to me." The three contestants were Pamelin Rose of Chapparel High School; Beth Kird from Calientes Lincoln County High School and Katherine Schneid from Bonanza High School. The winner re-ceived $150 while the two loser re-ceived $100. Using the word loser is really inappropriate because these young people were terrific, there really wasn't a loser in the bunch. The winner was Pamelin Rose and we wish her the best. THIS WEEK: Unless something unforeseen happens our guest speaker today will be Bruce Spaulding, Clark County Manager. NEXT WEEK: Our speaker next week will be Mr. J. Seakin speaking on Fore-ign Trade Zone. * NEW ROTARIANS * A couple of weeks ago we in-ducted ten new Rotarians into our midst.
