I am aware of, and appreciate your concern regarding the appropriate expenditure for a select event. It is my concern as well. There are three factors involved: The first becomes apparent in pricing different concert acts. The big names are extremely expensive C"Beach Boys-$20,000.,"Gordon Light foot "-,$12,500., "Van Morrison 'C'$12, 500., etc,) Secondly, the Concert portion of the activities budget is $17,500 plus fifty percent of its ' revenues. Thirdly, it is the feeling of the C-SUN executive officers that a series of smaller concerts will appeal to a broader scope of students, This was specifically President Buhecker's plan to avoid another "Guess Who" incident; I agree. Bearing all of the above in mind, roe come up with what seems to be C-SUN "Concert Philosophy": "Grab the best you can at the lowest price." We think we have been doing such. (The prime example being "Cold Blood" at 42,500. plus sound. Track Record: two nights, two shows each, at J.B. 's Sellout.) However, the job of finding a "Quality" group with appeal, which fits our budget, is not an easy one. We are open for suggestions, and I would like to extend an invitation to you to attend any of our Activities Board meetings and. see the problems encountered.
