(13) was on Stage entered the Our Entertainment Director, Skip Sherman, got into a real "tug of war" one night while working as Head Carpenter a few years ago. Skip was running the deck and Right for the Finale and as the Indian Girls stage, one of the girl's beads caught Skip's radio and almost pulled Skip's radio out of his hand. She didn't want to come back offstage and Skip wasn't about to lose his radio......the battle ensued..... and the beads lost! * One of our Cast Manager's more memorable events came when she was a member of the Cast. Jillian Hrushowy had a lump in her boot that bothered her during an entire scene and when she finally got a chance to remove her boot, she found she had . ....squashed a mouse ! * Who can forget the time that Johnny Hart went offstage Left to get his microphone from the Sound person on the Left Revolve. One of the crewmen was standing nearby holding a flashlight, and you guessed it, Johnny went out on stage talking into the stagehand's flashlight! * A different "look" appeared one night when after "Park Scene" the "Trees" malfunctioned and wouldn't move and "Nob Hill" was presented with the "Trees" at the bottom of the Staircases. Definately a tacky look! * One of the best practical "jokers" to ever work the show got the best joke of all played on him while he was on vacation. Mike Thyne was enjoying a well-deserved vacation after putting in over 200 hours during a two-week stint painting "orange & _ yellow" stripes on a drop that was to encircle the Grand Ballroom. Little did he know that while he was relaxing in the sun, the crew was busy painting his bedroom in his apartment........ ..."orange & yellow" stripesl * During the Finale of one performance, Joyce Vonn entered the stage from Stage Right and the Sound Console was shocked to see that Joyce was carrying a radio instead of a microphone! * During rehearsals, Donn Arden was setting the "Grand Staircase" look the way he wanted it to look for the opening of the scene. An unusual situation developed as there were (4)"Debbies' on the same Stair Unit. Donn being very precise wanted to move the one girl to the right. All four girls moved and the fun began. Donn finally calmed down after the situation was explained. * It is common practice for a Singer in the wings to sing "live" for another Singer onstage when their microphone malfunctions, however on one occasion it was quite embarrassing for the male Singer onstage as he was mouthing the words onstage and a.... ..s.... female voice was singing them offstage.
