FORM IOOO-4-OS-SM-WALTERS \ SAM PEDRO, LOS ANGELES AND SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT Hi K BETTIS, AUDITOR Sutyect: Claim J.E.Green. Mr. J. Ross Clark, Second Tice President, Building. Dear Sir; I have your letter of May 8 th relative to claim against this company By J.E.Green, of Beatty, Rev., and enclosing letter from Attorneys Haven and Haven on the subject. From your letter it is evident that you have the impression tha*, after I had received your wire stating thatiji in your opinion, it was advisable to live up to any contract enters ed into by Mr.Brakcen, I had communicated with Mr.Bancroft and was guided by his opinion rather than by yours. It is my recollection that upon my return from Vegas I explained to you that I had already taken the matter up with Mr.Whittemore and with Mr.Bancroft, and after consultation with Mr.Tuttle had refused to deliver hay to Mr.Green, and Mr.Green had left, all of this occurring, as I remember it, before receipt of advice from you. You will find attached hereto copies of messages to Whittemore Bancroft and yourself on the subject, as you desire. It would appear from your wire of the 11th, in answer to mine same date, that I may have sent you another telegram besides mine of the 11th, but if so I kept no copy. If you find one in your files I wish you would please send me copy.
