...Form 30 lo. 5-1904... \ Los Angeles, Oct. 18th, 1920. ROSS CLARK* Referring to your letter of October 9th with which you returned Form 30 lo. 5-1954 requesting authority for expenditure of |>7310. for.drilling well in shop yard at Las Vegas* I have taken the question up with both tne Superintendent and Mr. Maguire as to why the estimate was prepared to cover an 800-f t. well instead of one 300 feet in depth, and am now in receipt of reply from Mr. Maguire in which he states as follows* "Ihere are a number of good wells at Las Vegas which are 300 feet or less in depth. However, a well-drilling contractor at Las Vegas, also our Land Agent, Mr. W. H. Bracken, said that in some cases it had been necessary to go 700 and 800 feet to obtain a strong flow, 'therefore, it seemed better to make the Form 30 for the maximum depth. Of course if a good well is found at a less depth the work will not be carried beyond that point. » In view of Mr. Maguire' s explanation I am returning the form to you herewith as 1 feel that there is no doubt but that we will want a good strong flowing well and that the work will be stopped as soon as a good well is found regardless of the depth. I do think, however, that this information should have been furnished at the titoe From 30 was first submitted.
