Reorganization of the Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada (HSGSN) Preamble Sentiment was expressed at an earlier scheduled meeting of the Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada (HSGSN) that the group should become an independent charter of the State of Nevada. This meeting took place on June 15, 2000 at Congregation Ner Tamid and Henry Schuster chaired it. In order to achieve such a goal, it would be necessary to organize. A number of volunteers stepped forward who were willing to participate in such a process by serving initially on an informal Ad-hoc committee to discuss the future of the group. Another meeting was then planned to solicit a vote from the Group. If the vote is in the affirmative, a subsequent meeting is necessary to nominate and elect a slate of officers as well as members for a Board of Directors for the new organization, An Ad-hoc committee consisting mainly of the volunteers (from the June 15 meeting) met in an organizational meeting on August 23, 2000. It was proposed at that meeting to call for a general meeting of the membership of the current Holocaust Survivor Group with the following agenda: l .To explain to the members the situation and reasons for forming an independent organization. This would involve emerging from the umbrella of the Jewish Community Center of Las Vegas (JCC, which was under the general auspices of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas). 2. After such a presentation and ensuing discussion, a vote was to be to put to the membership as to whether to secede from JCC in order to form an independent organization. 3.Should that vote be in the affirmative, it would be up to the members at that meeting to consider the slate of volunteers for Board of Directors and officers of what is to be a non- -profit independent Corporation, entitled "Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada" (HSGSN).
