ASSESSMENT DISTRICT No. 100-23 GAMING APPLICATION Chic-A-Dee Club GAMING APPLICATION Hotel Elwell AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY RALPH O. DIXSON SEWER CONTRACT Questions on the cost of Assessments in Assessment District No. 100-23 were asked by Mrs. Smith, 121-123 South 9th Street, Mrs. Louis Conklin, 700 North 10th St., and Mrs. Laura Richards. Mr. Earl Turmon and Mr. Millie Robertson appeared before the Board at this time concerning the gaming license for the Chic-A-Dee Club, 1314 "F" Street. Mr. Turmon explained that he had recently been approved by the Nevada Tax Commission, but had not as yet received his State license. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved the application of Earl Turmon and Willie Robertson dba Chic-a-dee Club, 1314 "F" Street, for a gaming license for the second quarter of 1954 for 1 Craps, 1 "21", and 2 Poker be approved subject to receipt of State License and favorable police report. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The application of William Elwell and Warren Doing, Hotel Elwell Casino, 202 South 1st Street, being the addition of Mr. Doing as a partner and an additional Roulette Wheel for the second quarter of 1954, was presented to the Board for their consideration. Commissioner Whipple moved that the application of William Elwell and Warren Doing for one Roulette and one "21" game at the Hotel Elwell Casino, 202 South 1st Street be approved for the second quarter of 1954. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. A request of the American Cancer Society for permission to put stickers on parking meters asking for 10¢ contribution from persons using said meters, was presented to the Board for their consideration. Commissioner Sharp moved this request be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye: noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that the City Attorney be authorized and instructed to attempt to negotiate a settlement of the matters of issue in the Dixson Sewer Contract at a price not to exceed $40,000.00, to include immediate completion by the bonding company, settlement of claims, and change of line of Rancho Road Section. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Jarrett. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, Commissioner Whipple moved this meeting adjourn.
