A trench should be ma so as to d iv e rt any drainage en terin g the sp rin g . show th at i t i s im possible to s a t i s f a c t o r i ly p ro te c t th is w ater from su rface contamination, and from V egetable growths, which are very lu x - u rian , owing to summer temperatures in th is l o c a l i t y . In s p ite o f the f a c t th at d iv is io n fo rc e s made a se rio u s e f f o r t to clean these sprin gs but a few weeks ago, they are again a fr o g p o n d , f i l l e d w ith algae,m weeds and slim es, and animal contamination was found at d if fe r e n t pots, which could not be avoided. About a m ile from these sp rin g s a la r g e flo w in g w e ll has re c e n tly been developd and Dr. Boyle a d v ise s th at « o f the same type, w ith p r a c t i c a lly the same p ressu re, and volume, c be developed in the neighborhood o f the sp rin g s.
