Keeble Dear Sir: le refer to your letter of March 2nd-, subject, Water Lines, Las Vegas Land and Water Company. ^ y " v. :\ i It is difficult to give a direct opinion when so many details are lacking. However, in line with your suggestion, I will cite an example and endeavor to explain the procedure for handling the water' installation. If new housing units are being constructed on lot "H", the procedure is as follows: The builder makes an application to Federal Housing Authority to construct houses under the limitation order L-41. He submits, with his ap­plication, a certificate from the Utility (WPB-3548). On this certificate the Utility certifies to one of two things; first, that the Utility can make the water service installations within the limits of U-l-h, which is that the service installation will conform to the Housing Utility Standards and the total cost, for materials only, will be less than $5000. Or, second, that the Utility can make the water service installations in conformity with the Housing Utility Standards but the total cost, of materials only, will be in excess of $5000. ‘HIBO 'sei®8uv sol U-y. w -&s cd n ‘ldaa Sujseipjndl o?, S aaAiaaaa let ™ 11 * i %! fi In the first case, if the FHA approves the housing construction, the utility will be notified by FHA that the construction has been approved and the util­ity is then permitted, under U-l-h, to construct the water service. If the notification of approval is not forth coming from the FHA the Utility con­struction is not allowed. In the second case, the FHA may turn down the entire building project because of the excessive cost of utility construction. If on the other hand, the FHA decides to approve the construction regardless of the Utility costs, the util­ity will be required to file an application with the FHA for special permis­sion to construct the service. This application must be filed on application form WPB-2 774. When the application is approved, the utility will be notified and they will be given preference ratings and CMP allotment numbers for the proc yiCTORY urement of materials.
