Checks and pledges turned into the office since the campaign opened last week total more than $39,000, with only half of the local firms contacted t6 date. Merchants and professional firms will be visited by a com­mittee member engaged in the same type of work fdr a donation to this community exploitation program. A sampling of the first reports turned in reveal that James H. Down, Sr., received i00% co-op­eration from his division of auto­mobiles—new car dealers and boat sales. Nelson Conway, as­signed to the accountants | in town, turned in 100% donations from his group. Norman Corn­wall, city attorney, sent in his contribution before anybody could get around to contact his office. Voluntarily; both of Las Ve- __ gas’ banks resubscribed to the; egg's produced, program which has had _ their tssnuBl stamp of approval from its incep­tion. A progress report from Paul Johnson revealed that in his con­tacts of the clothing and shoe firms in town he has received no turndowns.
