WHEREAS; the Board, of City Commissioners have received, numerous complaint concerning the adequacy of service of the Southern Nevada Telephone Company and the failure to furnish service; and WHEREAS; said Company has heretofore represented that the service would be improved and persons desiring service would have received the same prior to this date; and WHEREAS; at the hearing in September before the Public Service Commission the Southern Nevada Telephone Company made certain representations as to the providing of service; which representations have not been accomplished; and WHEREAS; the Board of Commissioners have requested from said Company that an epert designated by the Board be allowed to examine the records of said Company to determine the reasons for failure and/or lack of service and to attempt to determine the true condition; and said Company has refused to allow an investigation thereof; and WHEREAS; the Board of City Commissioners have requested the Public Service Commission to designate a qualified person to investigate and determine the true facts as far as said Company is concerned; and the Public Service Commission has failed to make such designation; and WHEREAS; the deplorable telephone situation now existing is a reflection upon the City of Las Vegas and the State of Nevada; NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas; at a regular session thereof this l8th day of April, 1956, that the Public Service Commission of the State of Nevada be urged and requested to initiate an investigation to determine why the Telephone Company has not met its commitments and to determine what is being done to correct the deplorable conditions that exist and that the Public Service Commission set a hearing to investigate the complaints made against said Telephone Company in accordance with the duties imposed on the Public Service Commission by law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the HONORABLE CHARLES H. RUSSELL, Governor of the State of Nevada. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this l8th day of April, 1956. Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried on by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The Commission requested the City Manager to make an investigation of the facilities of the Clark County Humane Society and see what the City can do to help them. There being no further business to come before the meeting, Commissioner Whipple moved this meeting adjourn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commis- sioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
