Sheila & Jim Abrahamsson Jacquie &Tracy Bailey Dr. John Englehart Men's Club The Men's Club continued this year's exploration of our local Summerlin community with the January meeting. The club received a preview of the Red Rock Casino from Veronica Kistner, Vice President of Sales. After the presentation we can't wait for the grand opening. The World Wide Wrap scheduled for February 5,h (Sunday) incorporates our young students. This year's program is dedicated to teaching younger children about the practice of putting on tefillin to encourage greater participation in this mitzvah after their b'nai mitzvot. The program itself will take place on Sunday, February 5th from 9:00 - 10:15 AM and is for students in grades 4, 5 & 6. On the day itself, students will come to Religious School as normal and will report (hopefully with their parents) to the small chapel. [Sixth Grade students who do not attend on Sundays, will be encouraged to come as well.] When the program ends, students will return to their classrooms for the rest of the morning. There will be three educational preparation sessions leading up the program. The purpose of these sessions is to provide students with information about tefillin and to make their tefillin for the day itself using kits purchased by the Men's Club. The wrap is a program of The Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs which is a partnership of over 270 affiliated clubs with 25,000 members across North America dedicated to involving Jewish men in Jewish Life. FJMC transforms ordinary club events to the extraordinary through innovative programs that enhance spirituality, increase learning, develop leadership skills, and foster fellowship. The FJMC empowers its members so that their passionate voices are heard in their communities and in the conservative movement in North America and around the world. All congregants, guests and family members are invited to attend. Tefillin will be available as well as individuals to helpers. We need a good turnout for our young and to show our support for the conservative movement. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), will be addressing the genocide in Darfur, Africa at UNLV in the main auditorium of the Humanities Building on Thursday, February 9 at 7 pm.
