(COPY) TSiKliii SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES & SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY. Traffic? Department. September 19, 1912. Mr. F. A. Wann, General Traffic Manager, Los Angeles. Dear Sir:- As per we telephone conversation with you today, beg to advise that I have a chance to put in another packing house at Ontario. An association of ranchers between the S.P. and S.F. tracks at that point has been formed and John Westfall of the Interstate Fruit Distributors at Riverside has been offered the contract of handling the fruit. In talking the matter over with him today he advised me that they are sure of 150 to 200 carloads of oranges and lemons this year, with a bright outlook of strengthening their association for next year. The house should be almost an exact duplicate of the Westfall house at Riverside, fully equipped, with some little changes that would be suggested, should be completed for the round sum of $7000.00, for which he is willing to pay us an annual rental at 6% for 5 years, with a privilege of renewing a for a like period. In my opinion this is a good offer, as we get almost no exchange business from that point and the parties forming the association have formerly been in the exchange, thus making entirely new business for us. I expect to be in Los Angeles Saturday some time before noon and should like if possible to receive a definite answer at that t ime. Yours truly, (Signed) J. H. BURTHER
