I agree.4 Du Quoin, Illinois Attention: Mr. Gene Hayes March 4_____=____, 1963 Gentlemen: The following shall constitute your and our understand- ing and agreement: 1. You hereby engage us to furnish the services of Richard "Red" Skelton for a personal appearance at the DuQuoin State Pair, Grandstand, DuQuoin, Illinois, for one (1) per- formance (herein called "the performance") on Monday, Septem- ber 2, 19o3?? at 8:00 P. M. You agree that we shall have and shall exercise complete control over the performance, which shall run approximately sixty (60) minutes to seventy-five (75) minutes in length. 2. You hereby agree to compensate us for all of the services and talents furnished hereunder the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) net, by check made payable to us, to be delivered to Mr. Skelton or to our designated representative, on or before the time of performance. You shall also provide and pay for two (2) roundtrip, first class jet airplane transportations from Los Angeles to St. Louis, to be furnished to us at least two (2) weeks in advance of date of performance, and transportation from St. Louis to DuQuoin, and hotel suite and extra bedroom, first class, if available. 3. You hereby agree to furnish for the performance hereunder, at your sole cost and expense, the following items: (a) All labor, including stage hands, lighting and electricians necessary for the proper presentation of the performance. (b) All public utilities of whatsoever nature consisting of a public address svstem with at least two (2) stand microphones and one (l) hand microphone in proper working condition satisfactory to Mr. Skelton or our representative, and at least six (6) standard trooper spot lights in proper working condition satisfactory to Mr. Skelton or our representative. 1. if
