C I T Y O F L A S V E G A S Las Vegas, Nevada January 31, 1945. Mr. falter R, Bracken, Las Vegas Land & Water Co., Las Vegas, Nevada. Dear Walters Not long ago I discussed with you the water situation in Las Vegas and particularly the move in certain quarters to acquire the Basic water set-up and eventually bring this water to Las Vegas and go into the water business. 1 have always contended that financially and otherwise the City of Las Vegas is not in a position to acquire any public utility and particularly around election time the water and the power situation becomes a political football. To get support in certain quarters those running for office use this as their platform and you will remember in past elections I have been criticized because of my st&dd. fe have an election In May of this year for two commissioners and this subject will probably be the platform of soma. I am glad to learn that you are going to serve the Boulder Addition. This section of town in particular is a headache for me and other City officials each summer because of the low pressure there, and at the present time we are having sessions with the home owners in the foodlawn Addition trying to help them solve their water problem. It occurred to me that it might be to the best Interests of the Water Company and we of the City if your Company would give consideration in the not too distant future of serving the district West of the General Hospital on and off Charleston Boulevard. I think our better homes will be built out that way and I know that people having property out there would like to start planting trees, lawns etc. if they had water. Priorities for building etc. seem to be out but those with the will seem to be able to build and drill wells and I think you should be able to serve them when they are ready, I would think your Company would be particularly interested in the well drilling situation. A number of wells seem to be going down at this time. Again assuring you of my desire to co-operate with you and your Company, I am Sincerely, E. 1. CRAGIN Mayor.
