M, Me Covan, Superintendent Indian Industrial School, Fort Mojave, Arizona. Sir: You are hereby advised that authority has been granted for you to expend a sum not exceeding $1,663.00, in the open maxfcet purchase of assorted lumber, doors, windows, shiftgles, etc., also a further sum not exceeding $457.50, or so such thereof as may be necessary in the enployment of labor, all at rates and in quanti­ties not to exceed those specified in the estimate accompanying your letter of the 25th ultimo, all required for immediate use in the construction of a laundry building, tool and seed house, stable and fence around the stable at your school, these improvements being absolutely necessary at the present time for the proper conduct of the school. The Honorable Secretary of the Interior has decided that there exists in this case such an exigency as is contemplated by lav governing open maricet purchases and has therefore atahorized said expenditure to be made in open maiket.
