THIS WORK ORDER WAS APPROVED LAST MAY, AND WE HAVE NOW LOST 5 MONTHS OF EXTREMELY VALUABLE TIME IN OBTAINING THE NECESSARY PUMPS AND MOTORS, AS WELL AS MATERIAL TO REPLACE THE WOOD STAVE PIPE. THERE WILL e v i d e n t l y be c o n s i d e r a b u f u r t h e r de l a y in obtaining this m a t e r i a l AND EQUIPMENT. IN CIRCUMSTANCES THERE IS NOTHING TO DO BUT MAKE THE REQUISITIONS AND GET THEM IN THE HANDS OF THE PURCHASING DEPT., AND I AM INSTRUCTING THE CHIEF ENGINEER TO TAKE HOLD OF THE MATTER AT THIS AND WILL EXPECT BOTH OF YOU ACTIVELY TO FOLLOW THIS UP. THE REMAINING ITEM, WITH REFERENCE TO DESIGN AND ESTIMATE OF COST OF CHLORINATING FACILITIES TO RENDER AVAILABU WATER FROM MIDDU SPRING, SHOULD BE DEVELOPED BY THE ENGINEERING DEPT AND INCLUDED IN THE 1942 BUDGET.
