    Los Angeles, October 19th, 1948 1-733^ Mr* Wm* Reinhardt: Referring to our conversation relative to the tbtal amount of ground waters withdrawn from the Las Vegas Valley Basin during the years 1945* 19^6 and 1947* and the percentage of this total withdrawn by the Union Pacific Railroad Company wells and springs* Attached Is statement showing this data. advises that the total amount of water withdrawn from the basin during the above mentioned years checks with the amounts shown on statement attached to Mr* Folger’s letter dated October l4th, 1$48. He states that their records indicate a decrease of 652- acre feet in withdrawals in 194$ as compared with 1946 despite the fact that the increase in production due to drilling of major wells in 1946 was 35^ acre feet as compared with 802- acre feet in 1947* Union Pacific R*R* Co* withdrawals in 1947 increased 607 acre feet over 1946, but Mr* Jameson says their records indicate that wells in remaining portion of the Valley were not operated as many days and hours, hence the small re­duction of about 2% in 1947* water used by the Hotel Resorts South of the City Limits, Mr* Jameson says these hotels took over existing wells on pro­perty they purchased and in several instances drilled additional wells* Records indicate practically all these wells have 6 " per­forated casing and small production and Hotel El Rancho, Inc* drilled a well in 1945 obtaining 50 G.P.M* and another well in 1947 with production of 46 G*P*M* railroad company's withdrawals from the basin is roughly one third of the total withdrawn. charge to the southern portion of the Las Vegas Valley is very close to 30 ,000aere feet per year* Mr* Harry Jameson, Nevada State Water Supervisor, As a matter of information concerning amount of You will note from the attached statement that the Mr* Jameson states that they estimate the annual re- R* L* Adamsr" V*_.
