Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Bunker, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Jarrett. City Clerk Approved: Mayor Las Vegas, Nevada January 7, 1953 A regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held this 7th day of January, 1953, was called to order at the hour of 7:45 P.M. by His Honor Mayor C.D. Baker with the following members present: Mayor Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner City Attorney City Manager Asst. City Mgr. City Clerk C.D. Baker Rex A. Jarrett William Peccole Reed Whipple Howard W. Cannon Chet Shelley Dora Lord Shirley Ballinger ABSENT: Commissioner Wendell Bunker Commissioner Whipple moved: that Payroll Warrants Nos. 1384 to 1389 inclusive in the net amount of $35,816.07 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. Commissioner Whipple moved that Service and Material Warrants Nos. 2360 to 2363 inclusive in the total amount of $37,126.36 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. Commissioner Whipple moved the Minutes of December 27 and 22, 1952 be approved by reference and the Mayor and the City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Barrett, Peccole, Whipple, and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the application for rezoning of the following described property, to-wit: N1/2 SE1/2 SW 1/4 Section 22 T 20 S. R 61 E, MD&M to be classified as R-2 and the S1/2 SE1/4 SW1/4 Section 22, T 20 S. R 61 E, MDB&M to be reclassified as C-2, saving and excepting there from that portion thereof described as follows: Commencing at the SE corner of the S1/2 SE1/4 SW1/4 of said Section 22; thence-NO 52' 20" E along the E line there of a distance of 466.70 feet, thence N 89° 51' 0 8 " W a distance of 466.70 feet; thence S 0° 52' 20" W a distance of 466.70 feet to a point in the south line of said SE1/4 of the SW1/4 of said Section 22 thence S 89° 51' 08" E along said south line of the SE1/4 of the SE1/4 of said Section 22 a distance of 466.70 feet to the point of beginning. His Honor asked if there was anyone present who wished to protest this proposed rezoning. There were no objections voiced. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved the above described property be rezoned as designated above. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote; Commissioners Jarrett, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the recommended vacation of a portion of the semicircle north of New York Avenue that falls west of the northerly prolongation of the West Side of Fairfield Place, His Honor asked if there were any persons present who wished to object to this vacation. There were no objections voiced. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved the recommendation of the Regional Planning Commission that this vacation be approved be adopted and the following order adopted. A Petition, dated the 11th day of September, 1952, signed by five (5) freeholders residing in the area affected, having been filed with the Clerk of this Board, petitioning for the vacation of certain streets and parts of Streets in the Meadows Addition hereinafter described, and said Petition having been by Order of this Board referred to the Planning Commission of the City of Las Vegas for its recommendation in the premises, and said Planning Commission having filed its report, dated November, 13, 1952, with the Board approving and recommending said Vacation; And this Board, by an Order made at tis regular meeting held on the 3rd day of December, 1952, set the 7th day of January, 1953, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. at the Commissioners' Room of the Board of Commissioners, in the War Memorial Building, located at the Northwest corner of Fifth and Stewart Streets in the City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, as the time and place for the Public Hearing on said Petition and recommendation, and ordered the City Clerk to cause the aforesaid Street and parts of street proposed to be vacated to be posted with a notice setting forth the time and place of the Public Hearing and the extent of the proposed vacation;
