Arts and Humanities Committee Meeting
The Arts and Humanities committee met at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church at 1:45 p.m. p.m. on 11/06/99. Committee members include:

The committee reviewed the following activities.
Activities:
The Arts and Humanities committee has decided to participate in the On Track Program with Fitzgerald ES. The activities have been divided by nine weeks.
2nd 9 weeks:
‘Coordinate with Fitzgerald ES and adopt a class
of students (3rd -5th grade)
‘Sponsor a Back-to-School assembly - as November is Native- American recognition month, we are coordinating a Native- American assembly for Fitzgerald ES on December 2, 1999, from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. in the multipurpose room.
Responsibilities:

Coordinate with school as to date and time of the assembly:
Who will attend the assembly (i.e. only the adopted class, all third grade,?): ‘Photographer:
3rd 9 weeks:
*Sponsor a Read-A-Thon w/ prizes for the 3rd quarter (i.e.
VideoTime coupons, B. Dalton gift certificates, Thomas and Mack performances, etc.) during NV Reading Week - February 28th - March 3rd.
Students log hours and have a parent or teacher sign off on the hours logged. Hours are collected weekly or at the end of the 9 weeks. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places (more if we have more prizes).

Arts and Humanities recipients (2): We would like to recognize two outstanding African-Americans for their contributions this year. Nominations for the committee to vote on need to be submitted by the December meeting.
