    The above and foregoing ordinance was first proposed and read by title to the Board of Commissioners on the 20th day of November, 1957, and referred to the follow­ing committee composed of Commissioners Bunker and Sharp for recommendation; thereafter the said committee reported favorably on said ordinance as amended on the 8th day of January, 1958, which was the regular meeting held on said day; and at said regular meeting held on said day, the proposed ordinance was read in full to the Board of Com­missioners as amended and adopted by the following vote: Voting "Aye": Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Voting "Nay": None Absent: None ATTEST: APPROVED: SHIRLEY LODWICK, City Clerk C. SCHELLACK________________________________ Subscribed and sworn to before me this 15 day of January, 1958 s/ NEOLA GIERHART__________________________________ NOTARY PUBLIC IN AND FOR CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA My Commission Expires April 14, 1958 ORDINANCE NO. 756 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 36, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, ALSO KNOWN AS THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, BY AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 750 DEAL­ING WITH THE REGULATION AND CONTROL OF VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC; BY PROVIDING FOR A BASIC SPEED LAW AND PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT; ESTABLISHING A PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MILES PER HOUR FOR SAN FRANCISCO AVENUE; BY AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 653 MAKING IT UN­LAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO DRIVE A MOTOR VEHICLE UPON A PUBLIC STREET WITHIN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS WHILE INTOXICATED OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS OR STIMULATING OR STUPEFYING DRUGS; ESTABLISHING CERTAIN PRESUMPTIONS IN PROSECUTIONS FOR DRIVING A MOTOR VEHICLE WHILE INTOXICATED OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 750 is hereby amended to read as follows: I. Basic Speed Law No person shall drive a vehicle upon a street or highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the street or highway and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons and property. II. Prima Facie Speed Limit The speed of any vehicle upon a street or highway not in excess of the limits specified in this section or established as authorized in this Code is lawful unless clearly proved to be in violation of the basic rules declared in Part I hereof. The speed of any vehicle upon a street or highway in excess of any of the limits speci- fied in this section or established as authorized in this Code is prima facie unlawful. The prima facie limits referred to above are as follows and the same shall be applicable unless changed as authorized in this ordinance, and if so changed, then only when signs have been erected giving notice thereof, in which event the speed designated on the sign shall be the prima facie limit:
